Nine months old today ✨ where has the time gone?

Nine months old today ✨ where has the time gone? Little man can now crawl, say ‘mum’, pull himself up to standing on EVERYTHING including the windowsill, coffee table, TV unit, the couch and his walker (my day is now adrenaline filled as I run around after him trying to make sure he doesn’t fall), he is beginning to walk while holding onto his walker, he has two teeth, he loves my cooking (especially my Dahl and Chickpea Sweet Potato Curry), he enjoys being outside and this morning he ate dirt for the first time #IWasntQuickEnough 🤦🏽‍♀️

Last week, my laptop of 10 years finally died, it served me well through two different uni degrees and starting my blog. I now have a new one and can finally post recipes to my blog again 🎉 - my old laptop wasn’t letting me create, preview or post recipes - not ideal 🤦🏽‍♀️. First up is this delicious Pumpkin, Kale and Risoni soup, it is SO good and perfect for these cold winter days! Soup in winter is warming, nourishing, finger licking soul food, good for your digestion and supportive of your spleen and stomach. Got a little creative this morning and made some lavender rosemary smudge sticks while the babe napped 🔮 lavender promotes healing, love and happiness while providing protection and purification, rosemary purifies and cleanses while promoting longevity and concentration ✨🌱 anyone else feeling the need to cleanse their space after the year we’ve had thus far? Smudge sticks have been used in indigenous cultures for thousands and thousands of years, you can use them to cleanse the energy of a space, your crystals or even yourself. Many smudge sticks on the market today are actually sage however I’m breastfeeding so prefer to avoid that particular herb for now. It’s so easy to make your own with some herbs from your garden and twine made of a natural fibre such as cotton or hemp 👌🏽 if anyone needs a smudge stick, let me know 🌿✨

📸 CIRCA 1993 🖤 I have always been a super independent human, I like my alone time, I’m an old soul, I’m determined and have always had a list of goals that I’ve worked hard to achieve one by one. At times, I’ve let this get in the way of spending time with family, I’ve taken my mum for granted. In December, I too became a mother and wow what a journey it has been, the most beautiful, challenging, exhausting, magical, amazing and powerful experience of my life. I honestly don’t think I could have survived this initiation without my own mum by my side. I didn’t realise how much I needed my mother until I became one myself. Thank you @gorgeouscyd for being my rock, my constant guidance, my shoulder to cry on, my best friend, for being there for me time and time again over my whole life but especially in this new chapter! You were in the room with me the moment I became a mother and you have been with me everyday since being a wonderful mother to me and an amazing Mimi to Harrison. Thank you for nurturing Taya and I, for showing us love and compassion, for teaching us to cook good food, appreciate what we have, be a little crazy and continue to grow, learn and pursue our passion. I can’t comprehend how hard it would have been raising us on your own, it wasn’t always perfect but it was real and authentic and it was love. I love you mum, thank you for everything, Happy Mother’s Day 🖤

Everything old can be made new again ✨ this is a beautiful @potteryfortheplanet reusable coffee cup that my lovely mamma got me for Christmas a few years back, after using it for literally hundreds of coffees, it unfortunately developed a small crack down the side which meant it was no longer safe for holding hot liquids! Rather than throwing it out, I took a little succulent snippet (again from mums garden) and repurposed it as a pot! So cute on my kitchen table and meant nothing went to landfill! You could do this with broken or chipped mugs, old work boots, glasses, bowls, the list is endless! While we need to work together to #FlattenTheCurve and not overwhelm our health services due to COVID-19 why not take the opportunity to slow down and spend some time in nature, it’s great for your physical and mental wellbeing and boosting your immune system 🌱✌🏽

The key to health and longevity lies within a healthy microbiome, connection to community, and Mother Earth 🌎 how do you build a healthy biome?
